Invitation
We are pleased to invite you to attend EuroPACS 2006
in Trondheim, the annual International Conference of the EuroPACS Society.
The EuroPACS meeting is one of
the largest gatherings of PACS-specialists in the world. Over 400 people
from 46 countries attended the 2004 conference in Trieste and we expect the
same number of people to attend the meeting in Trondheim.
The program in Trondheim will
offer information on the latest and most significant developments in
clinical practice, research and education. Physicians, radiologists,
scientists and health care professionals from around the world will gather
to attend a program made up of scientific and clinical sessions. EuroPACS
2006, Trondheim will include topics such as: Integration Strategies, Health
Network, Image Distributions, The Electronic Patient Record and PACS,
Workflow, Cost- benefit and PACS, Security, Standards and more. Norway has
a long tradition in telemedicine and the pioneers started with Teleradiology-services 18 years ago. Today nearly 100% of the hospitals in Norway have RIS
and PACS. During the conference you will have the chance to visit the new
University Hospital in Trondheim and have an inside look at the PACS-system.
In addition, the National PACS-conference
in Norway will take place the day before the International
EuroPACS-conference starts. A variety of exciting events for both
conferences are planned, both scientific sessions and social events.
Trondheim is a sophisticated
city and an exciting destination in the middle of Norway. June is the
perfect month for a conference in Trondheim. The sun shines
from 03.00 in the morning to 23.30 in the evening so be prepared for the
long days and the short nights.
Trondheim holds a special
place in Norwegian history and culture. The Viking King Olav Trygvason
founded the city in 997. It was the first capital of Norway, and is still
the city where new kings receive their ceremonial blessing. Situated by the
Trondheim fjord, the city is surrounded by lovely forested hills, with the
Nidelva River winding through the town. Today Trondheim is a modern city, a
centre of knowledge with a highly respected university, many popular
colleges and a research community ranking among the best in Europe. You will
find a wide variety of cultural and recreational activities in Trondheim,
while work and education options abound. Here you can experience both the
charm and intimacy of the small town and the plethora of choices of big-city
life. You will find the people of Trondheim friendly and sociable. Trondheim
is a very hospitable city, with its doors open wide to the world. During the
conference you will have the chance to enjoy some of the city’s attractions
for you or for your family.
Trondheim has direct flights
from Copenhagen, Amsterdam, London, Praha and Dubrovnic. The route between
Oslo and Trondheim is one of the most frequented in Europe. There are more
than 40 departures/arrivals to/from Norway’s capital, Oslo, and excellent
connections both to the western and northern parts of Norway. If you come by
train you can relax and look at the magnificient Norwegian
countryside. If you are coming from the south of Norway you can drive
through the majestic Dovre Mountains. Another special way to visit Trondheim
is by the Coastal Express, which will give you a chance to experience
Norway’s special and beautiful coast.
